Puppy First Grade Build on the foundation you laid in Puppy Kindergarten. Train your adolescent dog to pay attention, mind his manners in company, and generally develop into a well-behaved, easygoing adult dog. We perfect your dog’s basic behaviors—and tell you how to get safely through your dog’s teenage phase.
- Basic obedience. Sit, down, stay, and come are the cornerstones of good manners.
- Impulse control. Adolescence is when jumping, leash-pulling, and barking can get out of control. We won’t let rude doggy behavior get the better of you.
- Paying attention. Young dogs have the attention span of a gold fish. Help your dog build this skill and you will reap the benefits his whole life.
- Socialization. Socialization maintenance is important—don’t let your dog regress into wariness of strangers or children. Keep him confident and friendly with this fun class.
For: Dogs 4 months–2 years old (max 6 dogs per class). Where: Lobby of Flagler Animal Hospital. Map. When: NA Duration: 6 weeks. Prereqs: Current proof of vaccinations. (Distemper, parvo, and rabies required. Bordetella and canine influenza recommended.) Cost: $100.
